Posted Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 by evandesampel

Field Day is approaching fast – 16 days out! This year, Mrs. Cervantes is preparing the many fun events to along the Olympic theme, as this year’s summer games will be taking place in England. Today, our preschool class was the first of many to be “torch carrier,” as the torch will be passed on from class to class making its way throughout the halls of Hanover prior to its grand arrival to start the games on May 30th.

This year, each classroom will be picking a country to represent in the games. Hopefully the weather will be beautiful as the kids, staff and volunteers can enjoy this friendly competition outside.  If you happen to have the day free and would like to join and help out, please fill out the form which should be found in the Hanover HiLites and send it into school with your child.

Keep your eyes open for further information as the Games rapidly approach! Thanks!

During this portion of the Battle of the Books, the teams within each classroom will battle it out for the right to represent their classroom in the championship being held on May 23rd at 12:30 in the gymnasium. Halloween Parties!

Posted Wednesday, October 26th, 2011 by evandesampel

On Monday, October 31st, the students of Hanover Highalnds will have their traditional Halloween celebration. Hope for good weather! Festivities will begin promptly at 1:00pm.

Similar to last year, the lunch period will be extended to 12:45 PM to allow students the opportunity to go home for lunch and change into their costumes. If a student is not able to go home for lunch, he/she may bring the constume to school and dress here after lunch. A from came home for parent permission to come home. This is needed to be completed and returned to the classroom in order for your child to be allowed out of the building on this day. Students will not be allowed to go home without written permission.

A couple of reminders… Parents, please help your child in making an appropriate choice when it comes to selecting a Halloween costume to wear at  school. Students should wear costumes that allow them to move around easily and do not obstruct their vision. For safety reasons, we are asking that toy swords, toy guns, or any other large, sharp, pointed ojects be left at home. They will be taken away if brought to school. We also ask that students avoid costumes that may be potentially frightening to younger children in the building such as costumes that depict blood and violence. Roller blades must also be left at home. Thank you for considering these items in guiding your child as he/she prepares for our school Halloween celebration. It is our hope that this time set aside is fun without being offensive to any child.

Our Schedule:

1:00 PM grades 1-6 will parade, weather permitting, West on Cypress, South on Valley View, East on Hillcrest and North on Highland and back to school. Kindergarten students from the morning classes are invited to participate in teh parade only if accompanied by parents. AFternoon kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes will follow their normal entrance time and procedures. Students will participate inn classroom parties after the parade until 2:30PM. Clean up and preparation for dismissal will take place from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. Students will be dismissed from school during the regular dismissal time of 3:00 PM.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon! Thanks for your assistance in following the school’s Halloween procedures. Also, as a reminder, the PTA will be hosting a Halloween bash on Friday, October 28, from 6-8:00 PM here at Hanover. Students must be accompanied by an adult.
