Dear Hanover Highlands Families,

School District 54 now has tools available for families to help monitor and manage their child’s district-issued device at home. As access to information continues to grow and technology continues to evolve, District 54 believes parents can benefit from having greater insight into and management of their child’s device activity outside of school. These tools allow parents/guardians to set limits and restrictions for websites and apps, as well as view device usage while students are out of school. Everything can be managed from a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Using these tools is completely optional.
Families can choose whether or not to use them and may begin using them at any time during the school year.

The device your child uses will determine which tool is available:

  • iPads:

    Jamf Parent

  • Chromebooks:

    Lightspeed Parent Portal

For parents who have students with Chromebooks

You will receive an email from Lightspeed with the subject

“Welcome to Parent Portal.”

If you choose not to use this tool, you can simply ignore the email. If you choose to use it, please save the email, as you will need it to connect to your child’s Chromebook using the tutorial we provide at the link below.

For parents who have students with iPads

You will not receive an email. The Jamf Parent app is already installed on your child’s iPad. If you choose not to use the tool, there is nothing further you need to do. If you choose to use it, follow the instructions in the tutorial at the link below to get connected.

To get started with either tool, please visit:

This page contains step-by-step tutorial videos that will guide you through the connection process, as well as help guides that answer common questions about the tools.

If you have questions or experience any difficulty getting connected, please click the  “Request for Help” link on the page, and someone from the Technology Department will follow up with you.
