U.S. McKinney-Vento Assistance Act defines homeless children as those who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime abode. In general, children or youth living in motels, transitional housing, shelters, the street, cars, parks, bus or train stations, abandoned buildings and other inadequate accommodations may be considered eligible for McKinney-Vento services.  Visit our McKinney-Vento web page for more information. Please contact our main office if you have any questions.

Personal Assessment of Core Competency (PACC):
In District 54, we are dedicated to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of every student. Your perspective as a parent or guardian plays a vital role in helping us build a complete understanding of your student’s strengths and areas for growth. To gather your valuable input, families of students in grades K–8 will receive an email on Monday, September 28, containing a unique link to complete the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency for your student(s). The survey will be open through Friday, October 16. We sincerely appreciate your participation, as strong collaboration between home and school is essential in supporting your student's overall well-being.

Erin's Law- Reminder
Again this year during the month of October, we will be implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as a result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law, which requires child sexual abuse prevention education for children beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels. More information went home last week in your child's backpack. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Parent Student Handbook:
District 54 provides this online Parent Student Handbook for our families and staff to ensure all of the important information and policies are easy to find. Please know that this website is updated as needed due to changes in board policies; local, state or federal laws; and best practices to support the academic success and well-being of our students.
